Pasadena's Former JPL Employee Faces Rescheduled Sentencing for COVID-19 Loan Fraud

In a case involving a former Jet Propulsion Laboratory employee, Armen Hovanesian, the sentencing hearing for COVID-19 loan fraud has been rescheduled to March.

Hovanesian, who pleaded guilty to misusing funds from a government-sponsored loan program intended to aid individuals and businesses during the pandemic, admitted to diverting $151,900 to support illegal marijuana cultivation.

The plea agreement outlined that Hovanesian falsified information in the loan applications and faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison.

The Small Business Administration and NASA Office of Inspector General conducted investigations into the case, with support from the United States Secret Service.
